Harare Woman Faces Court Over Alleged 3-Year Stalking and Cyber Harassment of Ex-Boyfriend
By Staff Reporter
A Harare woman has been arrested and brought before the courts after allegations that she persistently stalked her former boyfriend for three years following the end of their relationship.

Prosecutors allege that Annalisa Muguwe continued pursuing the businessman long after he ended the relationship, despite a court-issued protection order meant to stop all contact.

Alleged Three-Year Harassment Campaign

Court documents and investigators claim the situation began when the businessman cut ties with Muguwe and attempted to move on with his life. However, it is alleged that she continued attempting to reach him through various communication channels over an extended period.

According to sources close to the case, the complainant sought legal protection after repeated efforts to end the contact allegedly failed.

One source said the situation escalated over time:

“She allegedly kept trying to reach him through social media, friends, and anyone connected to him. It became persistent and distressing.”

Protection Order Allegedly Ignored

Authorities say a protection order was issued on 14 February 2025, prohibiting any form of contact, threats, or harassment.

Despite this, prosecutors allege that Muguwe continued to send messages and attempted to contact not only the complainant but also members of his family.

The matter was eventually reported to Rhodesville Police Station, leading to her arrest. She later appeared before a magistrate on 27 February 2026, where she denied the allegations. The case has since been set down for trial.

Cyberstalking Allegations Added

Investigators further allege that after the complainant left Zimbabwe, the harassment shifted online.

It is claimed that the behaviour escalated into cyberstalking, including attempts to damage his reputation through digital platforms.

One source alleged:

“The online harassment became more intense, with claims of attempts to tarnish his image and force contact.”

Authorities say these allegations fall under provisions of the Cyber and Data Protection Act.

Case Continues in Court

The complainant is said to have largely avoided public attention but turned to legal measures after continued alleged harassment.

Police have warned that cyberstalking and persistent harassment, whether online or offline, are criminal offences that can carry serious consequences.

The matter remains before the courts as proceedings continue.
