President Mnangagwa Honours General Thomas Moyo

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has honoured Lieutenant General Thomas Moyo as he concludes an extraordinary 46-year career of dedicated service to Zimbabwe and its armed forces.

Lieutenant General Moyo was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General following his retirement from active military service, in recognition of his decades of commitment, discipline and distinguished contribution to the defence of the nation.

The promotion was formally conferred during an investiture ceremony held at Defence House in Harare on Thursday, where the veteran soldier received his new insignia in the presence of senior military commanders and representatives from the country's security services.

Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Emmanuel Matatu paid tribute to Lieutenant General Moyo, describing his promotion as richly deserved and acknowledging the commitment he demonstrated throughout his long and demanding military career.

“Your promotion is well deserved. You have been through other demanding assignments. You have displayed a high degree of dedication to duty,” General Matatu said.
