Villagers Capture Crocodile After Months of Fear
By A Correspondent – Residents of Mabikiri Village in Makhushane have successfully captured a crocodile that had been terrorizing the community for months.
The reptile was finally apprehended on Monday morning, ending weeks of anxiety for villagers living near the Selati River.
The same crocodile is believed to have attacked a fisherman during the January floods, leaving him with serious hand injuries.
Determined to protect their community, residents organized themselves to track and hunt the crocodile, ultimately capturing it on Monday morning.
Following the capture, villagers are calling on officials from the Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism to safely remove the animal from the area.
“The capture of the crocodile has brought immense relief to our village. People can now use the river without fear,” said one resident.
The community’s proactive efforts have been praised for ensuring the safety of local residents and ending the reign of a dangerous predator.
