Bindura Man Arrested After Police Discover Human Skulls Wrapped in Ritual Cloths

Police in Zimbabwe have arrested a 28-year-old man from Bindura after making a gruesome discovery of human skulls and bones wrapped in brightly coloured cloths at his home.

The suspect, identified as Alfred Chinjiva, was initially arrested on Monday, 2 February 2026, for an unrelated offence after he was found in possession of a dummy pistol at a mine in Bindura.

Confirming the arrest, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said in a statement posted on X:

“The suspect was initially apprehended on 02/02/26 for possession of articles of criminal use after being found with a dummy pistol at a mine in Bindura.”

Grisly Discovery at Chipandura Park Home

Following his arrest, police conducted a search at Chinjiva’s residence in Chipandura Park, where the investigation took a disturbing turn.

Officers recovered multiple human remains, which the ZRP described in chilling detail:

“Police searched his residence in Chipandura Park and recovered human remains, including one skull with two cuts on the back wrapped in a yellow cloth, another skull wrapped in a red cloth, a single bone wrapped in a red cloth, two buckets containing bones wrapped in green, yellow, black and blue cloths, and three plastic containers containing soil mixed with suspected human bones and hair.”

The use of different coloured cloths—yellow, red, green, black, and blue—has triggered widespread public speculation about possible ritualistic practices. The skull bearing visible cuts has also drawn the attention of forensic investigators.

Investigations Ongoing

Police say investigations are still at a preliminary stage. No motive has been established, and authorities have not yet linked the suspect to any known missing persons cases.

The ZRP stated:

“More details will be released as investigations progress.”

Forensic experts are now working to determine the origin of the remains, identify the deceased individuals, and establish how and when the bones were acquired.

The case has sent shockwaves through the Bindura community as police intensify efforts to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the disturbing find.
