Zimbabwean Teen Stabbed to Death in the UK

A 16-year-old Zimbabwean boy, identified as Shayne Hambakachere, has died after being stabbed in broad daylight in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England.
According to police, Shayne was found with serious injuries on London Road shortly before 4pm on Saturday. Emergency services rushed him to hospital, but despite intensive medical efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. He was initially detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has since been re-arrested and questioned on suspicion of murder as investigations continue.
Wiltshire Police Detective Inspector Darren Ambrose described the incident as a devastating tragedy involving the loss of a young life. He appealed to members of the public who may have witnessed the attack or who have relevant information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward and assist the investigation.
Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, where Shayne was a Year 11 pupil, confirmed his death in a statement, describing him as a learner who would be “missed by everyone.” The school briefly closed to allow teachers and staff to support grieving pupils and colleagues.
Community leaders in Wiltshire have strongly condemned the stabbing and appealed for calm, while police have increased patrols in the area as inquiries continue.
Shayne’s death has deeply affected communities in both England and Zimbabwe, once again underscoring the devastating consequences of youth violence.
