Weekend Maitengwe Trending Stories with Yours Truly
With Yours Truly
Hallelujah !!!
This week’s trending stories kick off with Isaiah 61:1 — “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, to heal the brokenhearted, and to proclaim liberty to the captives.”
And truly, my heart is heavy as we dedicate this week’s reflection to the Kuwadzana family, who suffered a tragedy too cruel to comprehend. Their missing children were found lifeless, packed inside an unused Mercedes-Benz. The pain this family is enduring is beyond imagination — questions hang heavy in the air like a dark cloud over a silent village. Humanity, where have we gone wrong? Sometimes, Yours Truly wonders if the rapture isn’t already at the door… Oh Lord, have mercy.

Still in the capital, Yours Truly breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that the “Whindi” who once raped a Grade 7 pupil has finally been apprehended. May the courts deliver true justice — the kind that ensures this predator never lurks near our children again, not until Jesus Himself returns. ????
As if that wasn’t enough, another disturbing storm hit the nation — a shocking video resurfaced showing Masasi boys allegedly raping a Form 4 student. Though the incident reportedly took place in February, it only came to light this week. The footage is horrifying, a cold mirror to the kind of future parents we may be raising if society continues to sleep.
Conflicting reports now swirl: some claim the girl was 17 and allegedly lured the boys, others insist she was drugged. But regardless of versions, one truth stands unshaken — what happened was vile and regrettable. It leaves parents with a heavier responsibility: to raise upright citizens, not predators in uniform.

Now, allow Yours Truly a moment to scratch his head in disbelief ????. Word on the street is that a certain senior congregant was spotted at State House… not on a mission of prophecy, not for policy — but for Chicken Inn. Yes, you heard right — bragging that “Sapatina sapatina, kudya kwakanaka kwakaprofitiwa nengirozi!” ????
My oh my! A Chicken Inn feast, at State House, celebrated like a divine revelation? The same offices that lament obesity among citizens? Truly, Yours Truly can only shake his head. If this was a prophecy, then indeed — Jesus is surely on His way back.
Still in Harare, Yours Truly received information that the son of the late former President Robert Mugabe, Robert Junior, spent a night in police cells after being found in possession of hashish. Police sources further linked several other sons of affluent families residing in the northern suburbs along Samora Machel Avenue to a drug cartel allegedly operating in the area.

How times have changed — back in 2017, this young man would likely never have seen the inside of a cell. Nevertheless, he is now out on $300 bail. The irony, however, is striking: a group of Chinese nationals caught with a more dangerous drug, cocaine, were fined only $150.

Indeed, it seems George Orwell’s famous words still ring true: “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”

Across the oceans, Sean “Diddy” Combs received a 4-year prison sentence for crimes tied to his infamous wild parties and illegal escapades. Considering the life sentence he once faced, this is more of a soft landing for the star. If all goes according to schedule, Mr. Diddy might be back on the streets by 2028 — older, hopefully wiser… or just better at hiding. ????
Meanwhile, in France, shockwaves hit the region with the sudden death of Ambassador Nathi Mthetwa, South Africa’s envoy to Paris. Found dead at the foot of a hotel, initial whispers pointed to suicide. But the family has firmly rejected that notion, and fresh investigations hint at foul play. For a man who survived apartheid’s torture chambers to end his life this way? That story is hard to swallow without a pinch — or a handful — of salt. ????️‍♂️
And yes, there’s that ongoing South African commission everyone is talking about… but Yours Truly is no lawyer, so he will sip his tea quietly on that one. ☕

In the DRC, former president Joseph Kabila has been sentenced to death in absentia and ordered to cough up a staggering $32 billion in war crime compensation. His current whereabouts? As mysterious as mist over the Congo River. ????️
And finally, on the pitch — what a clash! Barcelona fell to PSG with a 2–1 scoreline, a match that seemed to silence the endless debates about who rules the footballing world. PSG, it seems, have planted their flag atop the mountain. ????
And that’s it for this week’s Maitengwe Trending Stories with Yours Truly. From heartbreak to headlines, from Chicken Inn prophecies to global intrigues — the world never stops spinning. Until next week, take care of your loved ones, walk in light, and keep your lamps burning. ????
Yours Truly… is out. ????✨
