Chivayo Splashes Over US$770K on Apostolic Leaders in Africa Day Giveaway
By Staff Reporter
Controversial businessman and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo has once again stirred public attention after donating luxury vehicles and large cash gifts worth more than US$770,000 to senior apostolic church leaders during Africa Day celebrations.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Chivayo revealed that he gifted Apostle Nimrod Taguta a brand-new 2026 Land Rover Defender valued at US$260,000, along with US$250,000 in cash to support church-related travel, fuel, and maintenance expenses.
Chivayo said he had always desired to honour Apostle Taguta, whom he described as a key spiritual figure within the apostolic movement. He recalled visiting Marange years ago, where he received blessings from the late Mutumwa Noah Taguta, an encounter he said deeply impacted his life spiritually.
According to Chivayo, Apostle Taguta’s leadership in the Johanne Marange African Apostolic Church and his commitment to preserving the church’s founding values inspired the generous gesture. He added that despite belonging to different apostolic sects, they remain united through faith and shared spiritual purpose.
The businessman also extended gifts to Bishop Manhango of the Bethsaida Apostolic Church. Bishop Manhango received a brand-new 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 3.0D worth US$160,000 together with US$100,000 cash in recognition of his contribution to the growth of the apostolic faith.
Chivayo described the donations as tokens of appreciation for the church leaders’ dedication to guiding communities and strengthening Christianity in Zimbabwe.
Linking the donations to Africa Day commemorations, Chivayo said the occasion was not only about celebrating African unity and heritage, but also about recognising spiritual leaders who continue shaping society through faith, prayer, and moral guidance.
He concluded by praying for wisdom, protection, and divine favour upon the apostolic leaders as they continue serving their congregations.
