Maitengwe Weekend Trending: 'Madzibaba Chivhayo proves he controls everyone and everything in Zimbabwe.'
By Yours Truly
This week Harare social media turned into a full-blown courtroom, church pulpit, and comedy club rolled into one.
The name on everyone’s lips? Yes… that man—Madzibababa Wicknell Chivhayo.
Now according to the streets (and the streets are never quiet), the man is being spoken about like he has a remote control for everything: executive buttons, church cameras, and maybe even the weather forecast. Allegations online went wild, with some saying even the judiciary was “on airplane mode” whenever his name drops.
He even got pulled into drama involving his former in-laws, who were arrested and spent some time in custody on what critics are calling “charges so thin you could read tomorrow’s newspaper through them.”
Social media basically said: “Ahh this one is no longer business, this is season finale of a Netflix political drama.”
Meanwhile state media allegedly went full Hollywood with dramatic headlines that made it sound like the Strait of Hormuz had been reopened in Borrowdale.
But here’s the twist—while this saga was trending like wildfire on a windy day…
A phone snatching incident caught on camera is still waiting for updates like a forgotten text message.
Zimbabwe Twitter asked the real question:
“So justice has a VIP section now?”
And just when people thought the episode was over, the case was reportedly withdrawn… and bragging rights allegedly followed. “Vanzwa butter.”
Warren Park Horror Story: “The Friend You Should Never Trust With a Knife or Friendship”
This one is not comedy at all… unless your humour is fear-based.
Harare woke up to a chilling story involving an inDrive driver, Brian Nandana, whose life ended in a way that left the nation shaken, disturbed, and asking life itself for explanations.
Police reports say a suspect was arrested after a blood-stained car was found, leading investigators to a shocking discovery at Warren Hills Cemetery.
What followed sounds like something from a horror movie script nobody asked for, allegations of a brutal killing and a hidden shallow grave.
Zimbabwe mourned heavily. Churches spoke. Friends posted tributes. Social media went silent for once… which is rare, because even gossip took a day off.
One message echoed everywhere:
“We are really living in dangerous times.”

Nkulumane Husband Learns Hard Lesson: “Marriage Is Not a Bank Withdrawal Form”
In Bulawayo, a man allegedly thought matrimonial trust was a joint savings account with no password.
He reportedly spent US$1 800 belonging to his wife, money that was entrusted for safekeeping. The court, however, did not laugh.
Result?
???? 12 months in prison
???? Half suspended
???? And a strict “refund policy” enforced by magistrate
The courtroom vibe was basically:
“You didn’t just break trust… you also broke financial discipline.”
Zimbabweans online responded:
“Next time just hide money in a sock like the rest of us.”
The WhatsApp Disaster – “When You Confuse Marriage With Group Chat Admin Rights”
Another Bulawayo man found himself in hot water after allegedly sending his wife’s private images and videos… not to the streets, not to friends…
…but to his own mother.
Yes. You read that correctly.
The internet collectively paused and asked:
“Sir… what was the group caption? ‘Family updates’?”
The court fined him US$140, which social media quickly translated as:
“Cheaper than therapy, but more expensive than common sense.”
Authorities warned again about cyberbullying, reminding everyone that WhatsApp is not a place for emotional demolition projects.

That’s it for this week’s trending chaos, laughter, heartbreak, and life lessons nobody asked for but everyone needed.
Till next time…
Asante sana, stay safe, and don’t forward anything you wouldn’t read in court
