ZANU-PF Owes Me $4 Million, Claims Activist Rutendo Matinyarare
By Staff Reporter
Political activist Rutendo Matinyarare has alleged that Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU-PF, owes him US$4 million, along with a farm and a house, for his role in campaigning against sanctions imposed on the country.
Matinyarare made the claims during an interview with UK-based journalist Maynard Manyowa on the Dug Up platform.
In the interview, he accused both ZANU-PF and President Emmerson Mnangagwa of failing to honour alleged commitments made to him. He further criticised the current leadership, saying the country is being taken in the wrong direction.
“Look, I have been fighting sanctions and helped remove the sanctions. As I am talking, ZANU-PF owes me $4 million, and I know I might not get it because I refused to toe the line,” Matinyarare said.
His remarks come amid growing political tensions over reported efforts by ZANU-PF to extend presidential term limits, a move Matinyarare said he opposes.
There has been no immediate response from ZANU-PF or government officials regarding the allegations.
Matinyarare has been a vocal figure in campaigns against Western-imposed sanctions on Zimbabwe, often positioning himself as a defender of national sovereignty.
