Musicians4ED Leader Arrested
Multi-award-winning rapper, songwriter, and musician Ti-Gonzi was arrested yesterday for reckless driving and possession of illegal drugs in Mbare, Harare.
Born Patrick Kauma Tarugarira and hailing from Hopley, the 29-year-old musician was apprehended at the intersection of Cripps and Remembrance Roads, near Mupedzanhamo.
Ti-Gonzi was driving without a valid licence when his erratic driving drew the attention of traffic officers.
Upon stopping him, police officers conducted a search of his black Mercedes Benz and found a half-bottle of Benylin cough mixture, two prepared twists of dagga, and two sachets of the drug.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed Ti-Gonzi’s arrest.
“The individual was taken into custody for contravening multiple sections of the Road Traffic Act, Chapter 13:11. These included reckless driving (Section 53), operating a vehicle without a driver’s licence (Section 6), failing to comply with police instructions (Section 72), and possession of illegal drugs.”
