Wrong Car To Crash Into’: Social Media Laughs After Kombi Carrying 279kg Of Marijuana Crashes Into Police Vehicle

Social media users have been left in stitches after a marijuana-laden kombi tried to evade a police checkpoint, only to crash into a police vehicle.

The bizarre incident unfolded along the Harare-Masvingo Road in the Midlands early Saturday.

The Nissan NV350 was carrying 17 bags of marijuana weighing 279.38 kilogrammes when it collided with a marked police Ford Ranger.

Kombi Crashes Into Police Vehicle At Checkpoint
The incident happened at the 188-kilometre peg as the kombi travelled from Masvingo towards Harare.

According to police, the driver allegedly ignored the checkpoint before swerving to avoid a tipper truck.

The manoeuvre ended badly when the kombi struck the ZRP Mvuma Ford Ranger.

The police vehicle was parked off the road when the collision occurred.

Both vehicles were damaged in the crash.

Occupants Escape
The driver and an accomplice reportedly abandoned the kombi immediately after the collision.

They then fled into the darkness, escaping before police could arrest them.

Officers searched the abandoned vehicle and discovered 17 bags containing marijuana.

The drugs were weighed and recorded at 279.38 kilogrammes.

The kombi and the marijuana were subsequently taken into police custody as exhibits.

The damaged Ford Ranger was also taken to ZRP Mvuma.

Police Operation Leads To Drug Discovery
The checkpoint had been established by eight ZRP Mvuma officers.

They were conducting an operation targeting dangerous drugs, armed robberies, stock theft and wanted persons.

The drug discovery has now become the latest major development arising from the operation.

Police are appealing for information that could help identify and locate the two suspects who escaped.
